So April 1st is usually a day for fun pranks & practical jokes.... This year was not the case. Michelle & I were heading home after running some errands when things went horribly wrong. As I was driving on the highway, we were passing this beat-up van. I heard a niose & commented "Man that car is making a loud noise." Um.. yeah... it wasn't the van. We passed the van & realized the noise didn't go away. It was my car making the noise. I was about to pull over whe n the noise got faster, then a popping sound. I really thought it was my tire blowing out. I stopped the car, checked the back tires then looked forward to see my car "steaming". Not good. I just a sinking feeling. I go through the craziness/frustration of finding my insurancecard, calling roadside assistance & finding a towing company. I am happy to say the southern hospitality is not dead. I did have a guy stop to see if he could help. He confirmed what I had been fearing.... my car was out of oil. What sucks the most is that I was trying to bring my car into the garage the Saturdy before but they were very busy & couldn't get it done in the time I needed. I had planned on taking it in the next day. Talk about bad timing!!!
So after the mechanic looked at my car, he explained that it had practically not oil at all. I should have know that My car was low even though the light had just come on that trip. Normally when that happens, I know that I have to do it soon- not immediately! Anyway, he made me feel totally inadequate..... Then he laid on the news. It was going to cost $6,000 to fix it. Now I don't know about anyone else, but I don't have that kind of cash just laying around. So I told him that I'd think about it. Needless to say, we are looking for a new car.
The only keeping me from total despair was Steven's musical about geology. It definitely took my mind off of thithing ngs & it was very cute. The story goes.... Professor Rock is missing. Where can he be? In the volcanic region? No In the mountain? No How about the ferns in the rain forest, would they know? Well actually ferns are very sneaky. They kidnapped Professor Rock. Along the way there were some clever songs about how geology "rocks" (get it??). Of course, Steven was the best in the volcano chorus! And Steven's best friend, Matthew was the best Seashore in the history of 3rd grade plays. But I may be biased.
It was a perfect way to end a perfectly horrible day!!

It was a bad day...but it's leading to great things! (And the inevitable.) Gosh, it seems so long ago.
